Communication and Community Media for Family Farming Campaign

In the context of the 2014 International Year of Family Farming (IYFF), AMARC has joined forces with FAO to launch an awareness campaign targeted at farmers’ organizations and the rural population. The main objective is to use community radio as a platform to share information with the farming community and involve them further in the discussion regarding the key role family farming plays in economic and social development.

Family Farming in Jordan

This production of radio Ammannet focuses on family farming. The host discussed with Lima Naims, a family farmers who explains the role of family agriculture in the country. Although family farms abound in Jordan, the government has no statistics about their numbers or the size of the produce that they grow annually. The audio production also discusses the innovative methods employed to fight diseases and improve the quality of production.

Forum sur l'agriculture familiale en Tunisie

Le 21 novembre 2014, Radio Djerid tenait un forum dans le cadre de l’Année internationale de l’agriculture familiale. Pour cette occasion, Mme Nadia Brik, vétérinaire au sein de la délégation du ministère de l’Agriculture; M. Ahmed Khadraoui, directeur du Bureau d’encouragement et d’investissement au sein de la délégation nationale du développement du tourisme; M. Outhmen Maya, agriculteur et éleveur; M. Abdelkader, apiculteur, étaient réunis pour discuter de la thématique de l’agriculture familiale et, en particulier, d’élevage.

Les préoccupations de Nefzawa

Le 18 novembre 2014, Radio Nefzawa recevait M. Abdelhamid Zammouri, Président de l’Association de Développement durable de Médenine et Président de REMADEL ainsi que deux agriculteurs familiaux, M. Nasser et Mme Nabiha, tous deux de la région de Nefzawa dans le cadre de l’Année internationale de l’agriculture familiale. M. Zammouri a présenté les spécificités géographiques et climatiques de la région et discuté de l’importance de l’agriculture familiale pour la Tunisie.

The Future of Family Farming: Providing Resources for Women and Young Farmers

The 2014 International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) focuses attention on the role of family farming in eradicating hunger and poverty and aims at identifying policies and interventions to support family farmers.

Regional perspectives on the IYFF
