The Regional Dialogues organized by FAO were conducted from October to December 2013. These aimed at better understanding the situation of family farming at the regional level and facilitate the discussion among different stakeholders, including civil society organizations, family farmers and government institutions.

The 2014 International year of family farming - Regional Dialogues

Family farming embodies a strategic pillar to achieve food security as well as the eradication of hunger and malnutrition in African countries. Despite their pivotal role, family farmers are still not considered enough from public policies. This affects and aggravates the land concentration, the displacement of families in the countryside as well as the low productivity and poor funding.
