A new song to stop Ebola

One year after “Africa Stop Ebola” featuring the singers Tiken Jah Fakoly, Amadou & Mariam, Salif Keita, Oumou Sangare, Kandia Kouyate, Mory Kante, Sia Tolno, Barbara Kanam and rappers Didier Awade, Marcus and Mokobe, a new song has been released.

Using music as a tool to share important messages about health, the collective behind the song repeated the experience this year to keep raising awareness. In May 2015, an audition took place in Conakry. 200 hopeful participants showed up, 14 were selected for month long workshops in July and 5 went on to the grand finale that lighted up the Palace of the People, in Guinea. Manamba Kanté, daughter of famous Guinean artist Mory Kanté, won the contest. She sings in French and Malinké.

The song is available for distribution to radio stations across Africa with support from the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC). You may listen to the song on Soundcloud.
