  • DrumNet: linking family farmers to buyers

DrumNet uses a text message enabled information system to manage a business network connecting rural smallholder farmers, commercial banks, large-scale buyers of farm products, produce transporters, suppliers of farm products and an army of field agents. DrumNet organizes the farmers into groups which co-guarantee credit and prepay for credit insurance, formalizes commercial relationships between the parties and provides quality controls.
